Married in November 1979, Scott and Carol Browne have been blessed with family, friends, church and an abundant life.
“The pinnacle of our success in life is in our children” says Carol. “We have been blessed with three of the most wonderful kids that anyone could ask for”. Garretson, (25) graduated from Appalachian State University and following close to the family business earned his Bachelors Degree in Construction Management. After over 2 years of quality employment in his field, he is currently the unfortunate product of the downturn in the construction business and is looking for a new job after being displaced. Patrick (23) attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he is studied to pursue a career in law enforcement. Early in 2009 he accepted a position with City of Raleigh Police Department and graduated their academy as a police officer with the department. Patrick knew he wanted a career in law enforcement when he was 6 years old and has never wavered. Michael (19) is a sophomore at North Carolina State University where he is a student in the Biomedical Engineering degree program and minors in Spanish language. After graduating, Michael plans on continuing his education by pursuing a master’s degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics.
Scott and Carol are avid runners. Together, they regularly grab their dog Jake and head off with their running friends to area trails for a run in the woods. They also compete in many of the area races and are active members of the Asheville Track Club. “Running is excellent for the mind, soul and body and we love the time with each other and our friends as we commune on foot in some of our most beautiful and natural places”.
Additionally, Scott and Carol are passionate about their Christian Mission work in central Honduras. They travel together as many as 2 times a year to a girl’s orphanage in Taulabe, Honduras where they work to better their family of girls, the local community and the surrounding mountains. Carol works in a mountain area medical clinic and Scott works with local pastors assisting in micro-economic projects. All of this while developing long term Christian relationships with the girls of the orphanage.
